Web Quest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. The model was developed by Bernie Dodge at San Diego State University in February, 1995 with early input from SD SU/Pacific Bell Fellow Tom March, the Educational Technology staff at San Diego Unified School District, and waves of participants each summer at the Teach the Teachers Consortium.
I can give more definition to web quest to explain to people, you can create a document with hyperlinks; you can create a Web Quest. That means that a Web Quest can be created in Word, PowerPoint, and even Excel! If you're going to call it a Web Quest, though, be sure that it has all the critical attributes.
To create web quest should be contain five steps :
- Introduction
- Tasks
- Process
- Evaluation
- Conclusion

- makes use of primary up to date materials
- stimulates learners with interesting do able tasks
- focuses learners attention on outcomes
- develops thinking skills
Types of Web Quest :
- Short - term (1- 3 lesson)
- Longer - term (1 week - 1 month)
