ICT as MindTool

By ICT Mindtools I refer to ICT tools that necessarily engage users in higher order thinking.  Students cannot use Mindtools without thinking deeply about the task at hand.  Mindtools require students to be creative and to think and make connections for themselves.

  1- Computer-base

  2- Available applications

  3- Knowledge construction

    Web Quest

Web Quest  is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. The model was developed by Bernie Dodge at San Diego State University in February, 1995 with early input from SD SU/Pacific Bell Fellow Tom March, the Educational Technology staff at San Diego Unified School District, and waves of participants each summer at the Teach the Teachers Consortium.

I can give more definition to web quest to explain to people, you can create a document with hyperlinks; you can create a Web Quest. That means that a Web Quest can be created in Word, PowerPoint, and even Excel! If you're going to call it a Web Quest, though, be sure that it has all the critical attributes.

To create web quest should be contain five steps :
    • Introduction
    • Tasks
    • Process
    • Evaluation
    • Conclusion

     ? Why use Web Quest
    1.  makes use of primary up to date materials
    2. stimulates learners with interesting do able tasks
    3. focuses learners attention on outcomes
    4. develops thinking skills
    Types of  Web Quest :
    1. Short - term (1- 3 lesson)
    2. Longer - term (1 week -  1 month)

    Student-Centred Learning

    Defining Student-Centred Learning

With student-centred learning, students are responsible for planning the curriculum or at least they participate in the choosing…the individual is 100% responsible for his own behaviour, participation and learning

    And Student-Centred learning also known
    • Flexible learning
    • Independent learning
    • Open/distance learning
    • Participative learning
    • Self-managed learning
    Benefits of Student-Centred Learning
    • Can work alone or in small groups, on and off campus
    • Have access to range of learning resources other than the tutor
    • Can take exams at own convenience
    • Can enrol at flexible times of the year
    • Take ownership of their learning; become reflective learners and be empowered
Teacher must be concerned with Learning Student Centred between laws teacher and student and    technology like:

      Role of Teacher:

    1.    Respects students’ ideas.
    2.    Asks open-ended questions.
    3.    Provides opportunities for group exploration and discussions.

      Role of the Student:

    1.     are engaged in dialogue with the teacher & other students.
    2.     are engaged in experiences that encourage higher order thinking and discussion.
    3.     use raw data, primary sources, manipulative, physical, & interactive materials.

          Role of Technology:

    1.     helps to make students’ thinking more visible to students the teacher.
    2.     allow students to make choices about how to display information / data.
    3.     enables students to make hypotheses of results.

Finally, the student centred learning is very important in education to learn the student , you can see video

    The Computer Tutor, Tool, Tutee

The Computer and Information Technology is very important in world and needed to use in school, in work and at house. And people used the computer in business and teaching and communication, sharing knowledge.
Now the computer can use as Tutor, Tool, and Tutee. Teacher can use the computer as tool  to teach the student  in the school as tool to sharing knowledge and communication and use all program.

Now the computer can use by tutor and tool can both improve and enrich classroom learning, and neither requires student or teacher to learn much about computers. By the same measure, however, neither tutor nor tool mode confers upon the user much of the general educational benefit associated with using the computer in the third mode, as tutee.

To use the computer as tutee is to tutor the computer; for that, the student or teacher doing the tutoring must learn to program, to talk to the computer in a language it understands. The benefits are several.
1-      Because you can't teach what you don't understand, the human tutor will learn what he or she is trying to teach the computer.
2-      by trying to realize broad teaching goals through software constructed from the narrow capabilities of computer logic, the human tutor of the computer will learn something both about how computers work and how his or her own thinking works
3-      Because no expensive predesigned tutor software is necessary, no time is lost searching for such software and no money spent acquiring it.
Finally, the computer is very important in the life can use in all object and subject and work .
